HMS Black Swan was built at Yarrow in Scotland, launched in July 1939, and completed in January 1940.
When taking part in the Norwegian campaign in 1940 she was struck by a bomb on the quarter-deck, which went through all three decks and the bottom of the ship before exploding on the seabed. Despite the damage she survived.
One of her successes happened in 1942 off Portugal when she sank a German U-boat (U-124).
Then in 1949 the Black Swan was one of the ships that figured in the Yangtse river incident.
She went on to further action in the Korean War before finally being broken up in 1956.
