This is rather a different type of subject for Artesania Latina, who normally specialise in static models of 'period ships'. The Sanson (in magazines sometimes also called Samson) is still a static model kit and is of a rather attractive typical tug from the early part of the 20th century. She would have been steam powered. Fitted with large fenders at the bow and alongside it would have pushed rather than towed vessels.
The keel and frame with plank-on-frame and planked deck construction will produce a strong and fine looking hull. The materials are of good quality wood, with many fittings in brass and quality cast metal. The ship's boats are moulded wood hulls, There is a full-size plan and a coloured photographic step-by-step fold-out, plus written instructions which refer to each photo. The instructions are fairly basic, however there is a page on general instructions, adhesives, etc., which will assist the newcomer.
The big question is - how easy is it to make a working model from the kit? Not a 'doddle' - but also not that difficult, we would think. You obviously will require to make some important decisions before commencing the build as there need to be necessary access points in the deck. And also some of the frames will need to be modified and cut away to allow for motor, power supply and R/C equipment.
