Competition Classes

Static scale models
Non-working models are gathered in the C-classes with the next different
catagories:
-
C1 -- Complete schips , with sails or manpower driven (for example with
oars).
-
C2 -- Complete schips , originally driven by mechanical power , for example
motor or steamengine.
-
C3a - Scenes, complete fleet , harbours en schipyards.
-
C3b - Complete ships , but not painted.
-
C3c - Open-worked schips , opened deck , section.
-
C3d - Parts of a ship , such as guns, deckhouses , masts , winches, etc.
-
C4a - Miniature modells of sailing ships (scale 1 : 250 or smaller).
-
C4b - Miniature modells of mechanical driven schips (scale 1 : 250 or smaller).
-
C4c - Miniature modells of parts of a ship (scale 1 : 250 or smaller).
-
C5 -- Ships in bottles.
-
C6 -- Plastic kits (Revell - Airfix - Heller - etc.).
-
C7 -- Paper / cardboard constructionplates.
During competitions there is a judgement of the way the model has been
built.
Navigating scale models
The Radio Controled (RC) scale models are split into three catagories.
-
F2A -- for scalemodels up to 900.0 mm length
-
F2B -- for scalemodels from 900.1 mm up to 1400.0 mm length
-
F2C -- for scalemodels from 1400.1 up to 2500.0 mm length
During a competition you get 7 minutes to finish the course , by preference
without touching any bouy. This F2-cloverleaf
course is used worldwide. At much friendly competitions alternative
courses are used. Together with the navigating there can be a judgement
of the way the model has been built.
There is also a F4-class with the same subdivisions specially for kitmodels.
Radio Controlled (RC) sailing-yachts
Different classes are known for radiocontroled sailing yachts.
Some well-known competition classes are:
-
The A-class -- Built to a special fomula. These boats are normally between
6 and 7 ft. long with a mast up to 8 ft. in length carrying a sail area
averiging around 1650 sq.in.
-
The K-class -- Dutch non-Naviga class.
-
The M-class (Marblehead) -- Of American origin. The main features are a
maximum length of 50 inches (127 cm) and a maximum sail area of 800 sq.inches
(5161 cm2).
-
The 1-meter class -- Maximum length of 1 meter.
-
The 10-rater -- These boats are buit to a special rule and approx. 6 feet
in length and carry a sail area of roughly 1100 sq in.
-
The free class -- No restrictions to length and sail area.
In all classes a special course has to be sailed , whereby the number of
laps is counted.
Naviga is planning to start a new class for sailing ships in scale.
See the draft of the rules for class Navigation
Scale Sail (NSS).
Radio Controled (RC) speedboats
RC speedboats are especially build for competitions. There are a lot of
international classes:
